Viet Tapas Bar Information

Tucked away on Colorado Boulevard in Los Angeles, Viet Tapas Bar offers an exciting twist on traditional Vietnamese cuisine by blending it with the small plate, shareable tapas style. This cozy spot has quickly become a local favorite, with its vibrant atmosphere and an inventive menu that keeps diners coming back for more. It’s not your typical Vietnamese restaurant, and that’s exactly what makes it so special.

From the moment you walk in, the energy is contagious. The laid-back yet lively vibe is perfect for a night out with friends or a casual date. The decor is modern with touches of Vietnamese culture, creating a fusion of old and new that mirrors the food itself. The space is welcoming, with an open bar area where you can watch the bartenders craft expertly made cocktails while you wait for your table.

The menu at Viet Tapas Bar is a delightful blend of bold flavors and creative presentation. Each dish is meant to be shared, encouraging a communal dining experience that’s perfect for those who want to try a little bit of everything. From the rich, savory pho broth served in a shot glass to the crispy, perfectly fried spring rolls with fresh herbs and dipping sauce, each dish bursts with flavor. One standout is the banh mi sliders, which offer all the traditional elements of the iconic Vietnamese sandwich but in a small, tapas-sized portion. The balance of pickled vegetables, tender meats, and tangy mayo is just as satisfying in this compact form.

But what sets Viet Tapas Bar apart is its ability to infuse modern twists into classic dishes. The lemongrass chicken skewers are a must-try, marinated to perfection and grilled with a smoky char. Paired with a side of cool, crunchy cucumber salad, it’s the ideal balance of heat and freshness. The cocktails here are also worth mentioning; they take inspiration from traditional Vietnamese flavors like lemongrass, ginger, and mint, but with a playful spin.

The service at Viet Tapas Bar is friendly and attentive, adding to the overall warm atmosphere of the place. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu and can make great recommendations if you’re unsure where to start. They’re also happy to accommodate dietary restrictions, making this a great spot for anyone with specific preferences.

What People's Say About Place

Absolutely loved this spot. I’ve never seen Vietnamese done tapas style and it’s brilliant. Stir fry noodles, turmeric fish, chicken crispy rolls. Everything delish. I would bring friends back here in a heartbeat.

We ate here for the first time tonight and thought the food was exceptional. In fact, we managed to wolf down the first two dishes before I got a chance to take pictures. In case you were wondering those dishes were: the Vietnamese salad with shitake and tofu. Shredded cabbage and vegetables along with shitake and some lightly fried tofu- dressing seemed to be a warm vinaigrette that greatly enhanced the flavor. The taro crispy spring rolls were also amazing, accompanied by fish sauce and mint, carrot and jicama condiments. For the picture I did take, that’s what we came here for. Turmeric Fish in clay pot did not disappoint- rice was fluffy on the top layer and crunchy on the bottom layer- so good! The whole meal was less than $70.

Beautifully delicious place to have dinner. Scrumptious, well curated and crafted dishes that aren’t overly seasoned. Tastefully Designed. Quaint, soothing place to dine. We love this new addition to our neighborhood. We hope you expand the menu to see more options as you progress. Thank you for opening here.

Can't believe I've slept on this restaurant for years. The food does the talking here. 1. Steamed Rice Cakes with Taro 4/5 2. Spring Rolls with Chicken 5/5, an herbaceous dish, served with a subtly spicy fish sauce 3. Shaking lamb cubes 5/5, great with the Italian red 4. Weaving rice noodle with fish 5/5, the fried shallots pop in this dish 5. Clay pot rice with fish 10/5 - just get this The remodeled interior is very welcoming, modern, and has interesting art and motorbikes from Vietnam. Classical music in background (chef's kiss). Also great that the place serves demi-bottles of reasonably priced wine. Beer's great too. Our server exuded hospitality, very attentive, and proud to tell us about the chef/restaurateur. Thanks for having us. We'll be back!

Bae and I had a music industry function in the hills behind this stretch of street. I saw this place was newish and had amazing reviews. The spot is a little hard to find which is OK but unusual for this relatively dowdy stretch of neighborhood where the raining cuisine is still, in 2024, red sauce italian(!) I love going to the Capri with friends during the holiday season but this was a wednesday night in July. It was literally empty when we walked in and it made Bae nervous but I'd read the reviews so I reassured her. Like the name indicates it's a Vietnamese restaurant that serves food tapas style. So Bae loved it, I'm not a huge fan of tapas period, not even in the basque country or Spain, but this is still a great restaurant and deserves support! I would go back for sure if I was back here in the area, maybe before a vidiots movie.

I had this place saved as a place I wanted to try for wayyyy too long! I’m mad I didn’t come sooner. The food was unique, filling, and delicious. The ambiance is top notch.the drink selection hit the spot. The service was so warm. Check this place out. I will be back soon.

I’m surprised this spot hasn’t gone viral yet. Amazing atmosphere, very comfortable seating, excellent service and the food was phenomenal. Can’t wait to try everything on the menu!
